RAC free traffic app for Symbian and Windows phones

RAC has announced Symbian and Windows versions of its successful traffic app, originally released for iPhone and Android.

The app gives the user a bird’s-eye view of traffic near to their location, with the start and end of congestion clearly displayed, with additional text summaries available.

RAC has confirmed that the app for Windows phones offers Live Tile, which lets users see current traffic conditions on a prospective route, with the option to display either incidents and delays or planned roadworks and events.

With the free app now operating on iPhone, Android, Symbian and Windows platforms, its broadly available to UK motorists and will help them stay a step ahead of the frustration of traffic.

Nick Giles, head of RAC sales and marketing, said, “Our mobile apps are the ideal companion for drivers to help overcome congestion whether it’s on their daily commute or one-off journeys."

“From the number of people who already use our other travel tools, we know drivers trust RAC when it comes to all things motoring.  This is another step to build on this heritage with free mobile apps to help motorists plan their journeys using real-time traffic information.”

RAC also offers an enhanced traffic app, currently for iPhone and Android, currently costing 69p.  It adds a route planner, route optimisation and a step-by-step route itinerary.  The apps add to RAC's comprehensive list of services, including RAC breakdown cover and RAC car insurance.
